We were taking our nightly stroll yesterday and ran into a neighbor and got to chatting about gardens.
"What have you planted?" she asked me.
"Five kinds of tomatoes, bell peppers, chili peppers, jalapenos, corn, green beans, peas, sugar snaps, japanese eggplant, white eggplant, potatoes, onions, parsley, garlic, strawberries, carrots, beets, radishes, gladiolas, dahlias, marigolds, watermelon, pumpkins, basil, rosemary, mint, yellow squash and cucumbers," is the real answer.
But I just said, "Oh....a lot of different stuff."
This is my crazy, wild, experimental garden.
I love it. I loooooove my new fence that Blake built me to keep the critters out. Even though it's totally sheer it makes my garden feel private and like my own little spot when I'm on the inside.
"Might I have a bit of Earth?"
My garden is a mish mash of things that I read about. A little plant tucked in to a tiny spot here and some extra seeds from a friend sprinkled there. Experiments in organic fertilizer; spoiled milk, eggshells and coffee grounds for my tomatoes. A ladybug feeder to keep the aphids away. Wind chimes. Sticks and twine for the beans to climb. A trellis for the cukes. Burlap sacks for the taters.
It's so amazing to me because yesterday morning there was nothing and last night they were suddenly there. I LOVE IT.
